From Obama, the Tax Cut Nobody Heard Of

This article says that Obama gave America a tax cut of $116 billion and nobody knows about it because it was done "under the radar" so stop complaining about not getting tax cuts.

The truth? Well, who wants to hear that when you can just read an article from the New York Times and hear what the media wants you to hear, Amiright!!!

Here's the issue...

  1. Conservatives are mainly supply-siders, believing that taxation is good as long as it doesn't climb over the bell of the Laffer Curve.
  2. Many conservatives consider themselves Tea Partiers.
  3. Tea Party platform is clearly against over-taxation and as we all know the media HATES the Tea Party.
  4. Because the Tea Party is becoming a large movement, complete with its own endorsed candidates, taxation is becoming a big issue.
  5. Bush era tax cuts are set to expire a lot of people, including conservative candidates looking for ammo, wanted the Obama & Co. to do something about it before the break.
  6. Obama keeps saying that he has provided tax cuts for the middle class in the form of social programs and healthcare but beyond that, he can't find any conclusive evidence for actual cuts.
  7. Media is trying to cover with articles about tax-cuts and middle class... which don't exist.
Case in point, this article that is the subject of this post.

From the article ... "stimulus bill had cut taxes for 95 percent of working families by changing withholding rates"

Cutting withholding rates is not a tax cut. It only changes the amount of money that your employer withholds based on the number of deductions you take. You still owe your taxes at the same rate. The only change is that your initial withholding decreases. This is not a tax cut. The same tax rates apply unless you are married filing joint .. but then they expanded the 15% tax bracket to include people making $56,800. Not sure what the math does to that but decreasing the taxation for one group but putting them in a higher bracket doesn't really help.

Let's say that you make $30,000 per year and each month you have $1000 withheld. At the end of the year, your tax liability is $10,000. At the end of the year, you will end up with a $2,000 return because you overpayed your withholding. Under Obama's tax cut, your withholding amount changes to say $800 per month. That would mean that you would owe the government $400 at the end of the year. NOT A TAX CUT.

Nice try, Libs.
