Ok... Now Gore says that ignoring Global Warming is like ignoring Hitler...
"Al Gore, in accepting the Nobel Peace Prize yesterday, also drew a comparison between global warming and that awful moment in human history. He suggested those leaders who ignore the threat of climate change now are stuck in a state similar to the state that froze those leaders who appeased Hitler.
"Despite a growing number of honorable exceptions," Gore said, "too many of the world's leaders are still best described in the words Winston Churchill applied to those who ignored Adolf Hitler's threat: 'They go on in strange paradox, decided only to be undecided, resolved to be irresolute, adamant for drift, solid for fluidity, all powerful to be impotent.'""
Wow...
I have got to get a copy of this speech...

OK that's it...
Today, Algore is in Norway getting his Nobel Peace Prize. That's right! It is time to give the award for "...the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between the nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses." for making a factually questionable movie about theories behind a theory of the future of the planet's weather. WAY TO GO NOBEL COMMITTEE!!!
Let me give you a taste of the article that has me peacefully content right now...

aaaaah! There it is... Can you taste it? Allow me to acquire some of the finest samples for your enjoyment.
First of all, Gore arrived via commercial flight and then took a train. Good job, there... That's like Quentin Tarantino not cussing in church or only praying on Sunday. We all remember the video of Gore boarding his private jet a month or two ago. We also remember seeing the movie he made where he is talking about all these "carbon emissions" whilst seated in his big limo and private jet. In speech class, they told us that when we speak to an audience on any topic that the first thing we do is establish credibility. Gore establishes about as much credibility in the "Inconvenient Truth" saga as a one armed man giving a seminar on climbing up a rope. But Algore didn't stop there... Nosiree!! Apparently he kinda gets that people don't think that a "documentary" on global warming has anything whatsoever to do with peace; so he tries to bridge the gap for us with this gem: "There are now millions of climate refugees in the world who have been forced to leave their ancient homes and move in to areas already occupied by others," he said, citing the case of Darfur." What!?!?!!?!?!!?111!!!11one!!!!11
Really?? I thought it was about ethnic cleansing? But I guess it is really about global warming. I'll bet that right now millions of dead Sundanese Christians are rolling over in their mass graves. Let me give some fact on the conflict in the Western Sudan. Drought as well as overpopulation has driven the Muslims into the Christian areas of Sudan. These "climate refugees" are now killing the inhabitants of the lands that THEY have moved into. It can be argued that the Muslims have been forced south due to "Global Warming" but the whole genocide thing is really just a choice on their part. So don't give me this nonsense that wars are being fought because the earth is going to burst into flames soon. And what? Are millions of Sudanese Muslims going to see your film and stop killing. The best part, however, comes where they start talking about the newest summit on Bali to talk about what to do when the Kyoto Treaty expires. "Delegates from nearly 190 nations are gathered for the December 3-14 summit in Bali which is tasked with laying the groundwork for a new treaty to tackle global warming beyond 2012, when the Kyoto Treaty's first phase expires." Guess what... There is a problem in Bali. Know what it is? Yep. There is not enough room for all the private jets that will be there during the conference. I need some help this time around because I am no historian. So those of you out there who know something about this, please comment and set me straight.
Humility out of the way...
Roxann and I were watching CSI tonight and we saw a preview for the latest Hollywood feature called "Charlie Wilson's War". Roxann asked me who Charlie Wilson was. I told her that he was the guy who sold all of those Stinger Missiles to the Mujahadeen Rebels in the 80's. So then I got to thinking... This movie has a cast of the left-est of Hollywood and is about a Democratic senator during the Reagan administration. What's the angle?
Let me start with this. I don't know how necessary the armament of the Afghanis against the Soviets was in the 80's but I support the cause of freedom. And at the time the freedom of the people of Afghanistan was in trouble and we helped. Let me move into this. If I had a nickel for every comeback from a liberal when it comes to the war on terror that said: "Well, we created them" I would be rich beyond my wildest dreams. Now I am going to ease into this. The synopsis of the movie from every reviewer is that this movie is about how Charlie Wilson took down the Soviet Union.
Really?
...so in a time of election where candidates on the Right are being compared to Ronald Reagan Hollywood releases a film that downplays Reagan's greatest achievement while ignoring the birth of the Taliban at the hands of a rich Texan pervert democratic congressman.
Help me out here because I smell something funny.

I had the opportunity to take a day off work on Monday for the purpose of getting a needle jammed into my butt by a nurse. I have been fighting this cough for a few weeks now and went to get it checked out. Bronchitis and an antibiotic administered via needle was the order of the day. Hooray. 2 days later and sitting down is still difficult and I am in no better shape.
This weekend, I fixed my car. I think it has been broken for close to 2 years now. I changed out the alternator and did some minor maintenance and it is up and running now. I just need to license it which should be quick and painless. We also got the spare room in the new house all done up. It is a converted single-car garage. It is carpeted and walled/windowed. It is the playroom/library/office. The kids LOVE having their own playroom. They really get a kick out of it. There is still a small pile of boxes left to go through and as soon as that is done, we will finish our bedroom. Hard work, but we are pushing through.
Ben is a ghost. He has several friends from his class that live nearby including one who lives directly behind us. If Ben has a good day at school, he gets to go play with his friends. I usually see him around dinner time. It has been too cold to really get any use out of the back yard. However, we have had occasion to kick them all out to it and get some work done around the house. So the long and short of it is that we are enjoying our time in the new house.
By now, you are probably wondering about the title. Well... Monday (when I was home) I was watching the morning news program, Good Morning America. They reported that Mike Huckabee is the leading Republican Candidate. They interviewed him. Fine. So today, Good Morning America was on in the house again as we got ready for work and school. They were doing a hit-piece on the Governor from Arkansas. A hit-piece. Something about him a criminal years ago who was paroled while he was governor. Which, by the way is what I thought the left promoted, releasing criminals because they are mis-understood. Boy was I wrong. As a plus, GMA reported that Huckabee "Pardoned" this criminal. He did not. He may have lobbied for his release, but the man was paroled, not pardoned. Which confuses me further because I thought that parole boards handled parole and not the governor. I haven't made up my mind about any candidate but it seems pretty opportunist for a network to roll a hit-piece mere days after a "fresh" leading Republican candidate is announced. Sounds pretty un-biased to me.

So there is this video that is crawling the web. It seems to be a deleted scene from Michael Moore's "Documentary" Sicko in which we are treated to the greatest Utopian civilization on earth: Norway. And Oh - they have free health care. So anyway, this video is being slung around the internet as the final "Gotcha" of the movie because "No one would believe me" says Moore. So in the video, after a montage of Michael Moore - you know what, that is a lot to type. From Now on, Michael Moore is now that fat, stupid hobbit, Samwise. - So after a montage of Samwise naysayers and Fox News snippets, Samwise explains that no one would believe him that such a place exists. The video... I will not embed it, but Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/v/LLQki-mQF4Q&rel=1 Watch the video then come back.
So we are treated to the utopia that is Norway. How nice. And it is a nice place.
Norway has a population of about 4.7 million people. That's about half the size of New York City excluding the 'burbs. They also have a GDP of about $207 Billion; half of which comes from Oil production. That's a GDP of about $44,000 per person. Not bad. Did you notice in the video where Samwise talks about Oil. He made it sound dirty if private citizens are in the business and not the government. Interesting. I am amused by the fact that a country's government can be in the oil business. But not America. Didn't we go to war for oil, Samwise? Big Oil is OK now? Thanks for letting us know. Does this mean that Samwise is going to pull his film: Dude, Where's my Country where he slammed the oil industry or Farenheit 9/11? 'Cause we are now contradictory it seems.
Norway also has virtually no gun laws. I found this intriguing because Samwise spent a lot of time talking about low crime and murder rates (as if that has ANYTHING whatsoever to do with free health care). But almost everyone in Norway owns a gun... Does anyone remember a little movie called Bowling for Columbine? You know, the one where Samwise hates the NRA and makes lack of gun laws responsible for violence in the US. That one. Samwise negated his whole anti-gun documentary with this video. Good Job, fat hobbit. Way to think it through.
I found out some more facts about Norway.
About 75% of the workforce is in the Service sector meaning they work for the government. That means that not only do they provide their health care, they employ their citizens to provide it... big time. This also would account for the high employment rate. No job? Come work for the government.
Income tax is at 47% and sales tax is 25% on most goods. Food and stuff is taxed at a modest 17%. So much for "Free" healthcare.
Businesses pay 25% of their profits in taxes. Seems like a lot until you compare it against the US. States take between 27 and 82% of profits from business in taxes depending on which state you live in. North Carolina is the lowest while Alaska hits that 82% mark. That is just the state taxes.
There is no minimum wage law in Norway. The lowest wages average $12-15 per hour which is not bad considering there is about a 5 to 1 ratio on the Kroner to the Dollar.
Cost of living on average is 30% higher in Norway than in the US and Norway ranks as one of the most expensive places to live.
Norway is NOT part of the EU.
There is a lot we can learn from Norway.
1. International Treaties and Unions are for the birds.
2. Mass gun ownership = lower crime.
3. Wages are higher without Minimum Wage laws.
4. Let the businesses keep most of their profits.
5. Lose 98% of the US population, move everyone left to Alaska, put everyone to work for the government and tax the crap out of them, make the government an oil and banking baron and you too can afford to be a social state.

As I was perusing the Digg today, I saw an article that caught my eye.
Headline:
US right to bear arms may get its day in court
For the first time in 70 years, the US Supreme Court may decide next week whether to examine the question of the right to bear arms, something which is fiercely upheld by millions of Americans.
To be honest, I haven't read the article yet, but in typical "me vs. you" fashion, a gun debate was started over the article. All the cliche's were present from "guns kill people" to "the Second Amendment is about the National Guard". I found it intriguing that people actually think that if we take guns away, violent crime will stop. It's almost like if we walk away from Iraq and destroy all of our weapons of war, we will have peace. Pretty absurd, if you ask me.
First, let's address the Amendment itself.
"A well-regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
Mind you, I am no scholar, but I do have a dictionary. So I looked up the term militia...
"A private, non-government force, not necessarily directly supported or sanctioned by its government."
National Guard? I think not. However, the dictionary on my desk is 20 years old. Dictionary.com and the Wikipedia now include the term National Guard. Agenda? hmmmm.Anyway, the best part of the debate came here... where people start to make sense and then some idiot chimes in with a misstatement and makes a complete fool of himself. So Digger Blantano starts the ball rolling with sensical argument to whit:

"Taking away guns from the people will not take away guns from the criminals."
Agreed. Common sense tells us that law is only upheld by those who abide by the law. Blantano's argument is later sustained by Jamile who says:

"Exactly. Both Australia and the UK have proven this point. Since Port Arthur and Dunblane (their respective "let's make handguns illegal" triggering events) both countries have had equal or more handgun crime than before. All that's happened is that gun ownership by law-abiding people has been decimated or, in the case of the UK and handguns, obliterated. Gun prohibition works in the same way as alcohol prohibition - the law abiding are screwed and the criminals keep going as they are. And let's not forget - said criminals now have much less chance of encountering a victim who's able to use equal force. And that's not even beginning to talk about governmental agendas, etc..."
I can see his point, however, I do not see any cited sources to uphold his facts. But hey... I do agree that a society with defenseless people will be preyed upon by the evil and unjust among us. Now here is where it gets stupid. Leftist genius halavais opens his big mouth and vomits this gem of wisdom:

"Old numbers (1994), from the CDC, but I'm too lazy to dig up more recent stats: Gun death rate (per 100K): U.S.A. 14.24 Australia 2.65 Scotland 0.54 England and Wales 0.41 When guns are outlawed, a substantially fewer number of outlaws have guns."
Wow, halavais, it looks like the big bad ol' US has a bigger gun violence problem than these countries because, well, look at the numbers. 14 is higher than 2 or .41. Good job, idiot. Look at what he posted. Right...... here..."per 100K" Per One Hundred Thousand people. Does anyone else see the flaw here. Again, halavais, has cited no real source, so I will take his numbers at face value to demonstrate his complete failure to contribute to society. Lets start by getting population numbers for 1994 for each of the countries listed here.
The United States Population (The numbers are from 1990 since the census is only gathered once every 10 yrs, but a lower population only helps halavais, so I will give it to him) according the the 1990 Census the population is 248,709,873 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_the_United_States)
Australian Population 1994 is 17,951,300 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demography_of_Australia)
Scotland census is dated 1991 and lists the population at 5,083,000 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demography_of_Scotland)
England's population circa 1991 is sitting at 48,067,300 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Population_of_England) while Wales was at 2,877,700 (http://new.wales.gov.uk/docrepos/40382/40382313/statistics/population/pop-2007/wales-pop2005/wales-pop2005-e1.pdf?lang=en) giving is a total of 50,945,000 for this section of the numbers.
These numbers are not perfect, but lower numbers, again only helps halavais in his quest for glory. Now, the numbers in the example given by halavais are per 100,000. So how may 100,000 sections are contained in each population. This can be found by simply dividing the population for each country by 100,000 (population / 100000). halavais gave us the number per 100,000 of gun deaths for 1994 in each country. To get a percentage, take that number (Gun Deaths Per 100K or GDP1K) and divide it by the number of 100,000 units in each population to get the estimated total Gun Related Deaths for each population rated in a percentage as it relates to the population as a whole. The formula is as follows.
A = Population
B = Gun Deaths per 100,000
C = Total Percent of the population dead at the hands of a gun.
B / [A / 100,000] = C
Let's plug that formula in for each Population, shall we?
United States:
14.24 / [248,709,873 / 100,000] = 0.005%
Australia:
2.65 / [17,951,300 / 100000] = 0.015%
Scotland:
0.54 / [5,083,000 / 100000] = 0.01%
England and Wales:
0.41 / [50,945,000 / 100000] = 0.008%
So... Who has a lower percentage of gun deaths per population? That's right, the country without a gun ban.
Eat it, anti-gun lefty's

Let me start by spouting my pro-environmental beliefs. I think that we as stewards of the Lord's earth have a responsibility to keep it nice and clean. As best we can while not overly compromising the safety and security of ourselves or our families. He even tells us that even though the Earth is cool, it is not as important as our families. "Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away." (Mark 13:31)
So, I think that it's cool when a car company makes a hybrid or tries new ways to get us off of gasoline. I even think that it's cool to tell your kids not to litter. I even think its uncool to pollute. I actually do give a hoot.
But I have had enough. ENOUGH of global warming and the scaremongering coming from leftist "green" organizations. We have, as a society, been talking about Global Warming or Climate Change for a few years now and I can't take it anymore. It is bad enough that Algore made some nonsense movie about how we are all going to kill the ourselves and earth in 10 years by surviving as the fittest animal; a movie that is rife with errors and misstatements to the point where universities have to offer disclaimers to let students know that the "science" within is faulty at best. But he won an Oscar which was expected and then the Nobel Peace Prize... Really... Global warming movie = Peace? No really, I think it was great that he beat that crusty old do-nothing bat Irna Sendler. All she ever did was save about 2500 jewish children from the Nazis. Why give it to someone who actually helped create peace for 2500 children who would have otherwise been slaughtered in the Nazi hate machine when you can give it to a political hack who touts the popular leftist cause of the day? I mean really... Good job Nobel Prize committee. No really, thanks for stepping up and doing the right thing.
As if this isn't bad enough, now I am turning on my television only to see that the old colorful NBC Peacock is now green and all the shows this week have had an environmental message, including a half-time show on Monday Night Football that was done by candlelight! Who do these people think they are fooling? Candlelight? So instead of using electricity that was most likely provided by a "nukular" power plant which gives off virtually no emissions, we lit a bunch of BURNING candles to light a stadium?!? Then you flew correspondents all over the world in jets that spew "carbon emissions" to have them live at the half time show from "all over the world". I think that Roger Daltry (lead singer of The Who - its an old rock band, mom and dad) said it best when they asked him to be on the Live Earth Tour to raise global warming awareness last year. He said:
"...The last thing the planet needs is a rock concert. I can't believe it. Let's burn even more fuel.”
Amen to that.
Hollywood just needs to leave it alone. This is as bad as that 9/11 fundraiser they had just after 9/11. You know... Let's us, a bunch of rich people, tell the poor people to give money. Thanks, but no thanks.
Which brings me to my point. If changing the world's environment means that I have to spend more money, thus putting my family at risk... I pass. Sorry.. Not going to starve my kids just so we can save a 4.55 billion year old planet based on 200 years of meteorological data.

Fun with Blogs or: How I Learned to Over-play the Dr. Strangelove Title
0 comments Posted by L S. "Spencer" Olsen at 11:16 AM
So...
What a week.
Roxann and I started watching Heroes this week due to peer pressure. I must say... It did start a little slow but has really picked up speed. With 3 episodes left, Roxann and I are on the edge of our seats in anticipation of what will happen. Will Hiro stop the bomb? Will Nathan continue to be a complete tool? Will anyone who incapacitates Sylar actually behead him and get it over with instead of monologuing and trying to understand him thus meeting a horrible fate and not stopping the most evil dude in the world? Will we finally go to bed before midnight? All will be answered this week as we finally finish season one. Stay tuned.
We trunk-or-treated this weekend with a ward up in Antioch (near Nashville) with some friends of ours that recently moved from the ward. We had some good fun. Benjamin was dressed as that famous satanic pagan, Harry Potter, Matthew as Tigger and my little princess as a fairy. Pictures will be added tonight. In the mean time, I have substituted this random comic book cover for your amusement. Caitlyn tried to remove her costume because she did not want to wear it. We won that battle as she finally sank into a stage of acceptance. Matthew embraced and embodied all that is Tigger. On the way home, it was late, all were asleep in their car seats except for Matthew; he had chewed through his share of candy and was glassy eyed and nervous. A look back into his wide, saucer eyes and his exclaimation of "I'm not tired!!!" was enough to contemplate an intervention on his behalf for a sugar problem. When we got up Sunday morning, the kids had found the candy. Oops. Matthew was sitting over the bowl eating as fast as he could because he could hear me coming down the stairs. Benjamin was huddled in the corner by the couch facing the wall looking about like a nervous chipmunk, protecting his stash. When I had finished getting the candy bowl and emptying Matthew's hands I moved to Ben.
"Ben?"
He looked at me over his shoulder. Sucker in mouth he spat: "What?"
"Let's have it."
He reached under the couch in the corner and turned over several handfuls of candy.
"...all of it."
He sighed and surrendured at least 2 more handfuls of candy.
I did learn this week just how much Caitlyn play-acts to get her way or express herself. After a bath last week, I withdrew Matt's soapy naked body and wrapped him into a towel. As usual, I swiftly dried his hair, admonished him to get dry then dressed and sent him on his way. Next came Caitlyn. Not wanting to exit the frothy bubble bath, she laid down into the bubbles on her tummy. She got as small as possible hoping I would not be able to get her. I asked her to stand and exit the tub. Without a word, she shook her head defiantly, letting me know that her answer was negative. I continued to ask her to get up and exit the tub. No. So, I threatened her.
"Caitlyn, I am going to count to 3. One... Two... Three..." She did not budge.
"Caitlyn, I will swat your butt if you do not get up." I counted again.
Gently, I reached in and hoisted her wriggling body up and stood her on the rug and wrapped her into the towel. I then gave a firm, but soft swat to her butt. She thought for a moment and let out a horrific scream.
"OW OW OW!!! HURTS!!! OW OW OW OW!!!"
Crying and screaming I couldn't help but giggle a little. I barely touched her! So I took her, screaming and writhing to the changing table to dry and dress her for bed. She stopped screaming. Then, I had an idea. I reached over and touched her bottom. Just touched, not swatted, touched.
"OW OW OW OW OW!!! HURTS!!! OW OW OW!!!" she screamed as she pointed at her backside. I finished getting her dressed and set her down on her feet. She looked at me. She then went downstairs and told Mom on me.
So I am learning that boundaries really upset Caitlyn. She wishes to have free reign of house. We have a baby gate that we put up sometimes for various reasons. On several occasions we see Caitlyn content and playing with her toys. Dad gets up for whatever reason and puts up the baby gate. Caitlyn, seeing that the gate is up, gets up, and begins to cry. Then she staggers over to the gate through her grief and hangs on it screaming "No! No! No!" Like the chick from King Kong who was tied up at the gate, she hangs limp, screaming, and crying for the gate to come down. It's kind of amusing really, but I scares me for what may be to come.
Oh well.

How to Have an Argument About National Defense
0 comments Posted by L S. "Spencer" Olsen at 10:38 AM
I spend part of my day checking an RSS feed at the top of my browser window that links to digg.com. For those of you who do not know what digg.com is, it is a place where pimply faced teenagers and 'smarter-than-us' college students post and comment about news stories. Most of the time, the news stories are pretty cool but there seems to be a proclivity to post neo-political drivel and incite a riotous mix of acne cream and tin foil hats in a comment system that is dominated by the insane and trolled by those of us who do not believe that President Bush actually drinks the blood of starving pre-school kids from an impoverished village in Kenya while strangling kittens. My fun is derived from reading what other people seem to believe as fact knowing full well that such views belong in the movie 'Conspiracy Theory'.
Some little know facts about the wold according to Digg.com are as follows:
George Bush is a Nazi bent on creating a fascist regime in the US.
9/11 was in fact perpetrated by the Bush administration for the sole purpose of starting a war in Iraq.
Police Officers using a tazer to non-lethally subdue some idiot is tantamount to a police state in America.
The wealthy in America have stolen all their wealth from the rest of the world and need to be stopped.
The Earth will burst into flames in about 5 years.
Terrorists are freedom fighters and can be compared to American Revolutionaries.
Christian religions are fairy tales and need to be stopped at all costs.
You get the picture. Digg.com is probably the most entertaining website on the net next to http://badgerbadgerbadger.com (turn up your sound before visiting).
So...
I regularly troll the diggs in search of daily entertainment. And the other day I found a real gem. I found the greatest National Defense argument ever. Some blogger had posted a write-up on an 'anonymous' soldier who opposes the war and says we should put down all of our weapons and walk away. ...right...
The conversation went like this:
ifm1989 posts...
"War seemed to work for us in the Independence War
Let's face it, man is not perfect. The Romans used to say 'To prepare for peace, you must prepare for war.'"
Then some smarmy college kid named Acewrap just knew in his heart of hearts that he had the comeback to end all comebacks. He states:
"How are the Romans doing these days?"
OH SNAP! - of course their civilization did not survive. How could the Romans possibly be used as a credible source for an argument. Acewrap nailed it... until...
Pay attention 'cause this is where it gets good...
blackhawk919 serves up the most appropriate piece of truth pie ever.
"They're dead. The died when they were caught unprepared for war."
That's right, they're dead. You see, between 379 and 395, Theodosis opened the borders along the Danube to the Visigoths. Sound familiar? Then peace agreements were made with the Middle Eastern Countries and the Roman Military began integrating foreigners (mainly Germanic) into their ranks. Things really went downhill from there. The military, largely un-patriotic to the cause of Rome due to regional and ethnic backgrounds just did not have the resolve to win as the legions of old.
National Defense is important. If you do not believe me, just look at Neville Chamberlain's words from September of 1938:
"How horrible, fantastic it is that we should be digging trenches and trying on gas-masks here because of a quarrel in a far away country between people of whom we know nothing."
Way to go, Neville.
Don't get me wrong, peace is awesome, you just can't achieve it as a nation by walking away because you will get shot in the back.
